Grieg Seafood - Annual Report
A deep commitment to sustainability
Grieg Seafood is one of the world's leading fish farmers and specializes in Atlantic salmon. Their fish farms are located in Norway, Scotland and Canada. They have about 800 employees globally.
Sustainability is an integral part of their business model. The company has been concerned with understanding the oceans and works closely with local communities to ensure that the waters are secured so that it is possible to produce healthy fish for several generations to come. This was the foundation of our approach to the annual report.

Solution
The theme for the work we have done is "Rooted in Nature", a direction where we have used integrated reporting as a way to demonstrate how having a sustainable angle on fish farming can go hand in hand with good profits. This is reflected in a natural use of photographs, with beautiful images of raw materials and sea views from areas where Grieg Seafood operates. Personal statements from key people are balanced with thorough operational data that gives investors a clear message about the extent to which the company is committed to being sustainable.
Result
The report has become a valuable tool that can be used to educate all stakeholders about Grieg Seafood's principles and procedures regarding business operations. Employees from all over the world feel included, informed and motivated by the ethical guidelines that Grieg Seafood works by.
Grieg Seafood won bronze for best idea and design in the Farmand Prize 2019 , Norway's most prestigious annual report prize.
“The annual report is an important tool for highlighting how good sustainability is also positive for the bottom line. Mission helped us find the core of our story, and present it in a beautiful and authentic way. ”
Renete Kaarvik - Global Finance Officer, Grieg Seafood
“Sustainability is the core of what we do. Our salmon is chosen by the world's leading chefs, even Obama served it at his inauguration dinner! We must produce fish in a way that takes care of the sea for all time to come and recognizes that we have challenges to solve. We now have a report that gives an honest picture of how far we have come on the road, and what we still have to work with. ”
