Ocean Stories

A journey from the depths of the ocean to the aquaculture of the future

In close collaboration with Grieg Seafood, Mission has developed a visual identity for the new exhibition center “Ocean Stories” that opens in August, in Honningsvåg. Ocean Stories is the world’s northernmost exhibition center, and is an experience center that conveys the history of aquaculture through a narrative journey — from tales from the depths of the ocean to a taste of the future of the marine industry.

Mission has developed an identity inspired by the experiences at the center, and its ability to tell different stories from both the past, future and present. At the core of the identity is a living icon that is designed to be responsive. This flexibility helps the brand reflect the dynamic journey that the exhibitions offer: a journey from the wonderful and wild ocean, through myths and traditions, and onward to the sustainable aquaculture of tomorrow.

One of the things Ocean Stories wants to achieve is a strong anchoring in the local community in Finnmark. The identity uses a color palette inspired by the nature and seasons in Finnmark. The inspiration for the illustrations is taken directly from the region, with small nods to both runes, Finnmark's history and nature. This means that the exhibitions and communication surfaces used are always changing.

The work has resulted in a strong visual identity that is both modern and dynamic, where technology
and storytelling come together to give the audience a deeper understanding of the importance of the ocean —
both today and in the future.
