What type of manager are you in a storm?

Some managers go into their bubble during a storm and the result shows on the bottom line. Most of their attention will be turned towards the board and shareholders, failing to communicate with the organisation as a whole.

As a manager, you also have a responsibility to safeguard motivation further down in the ranks. This group is often under a lot of pressure. To ensure good communication with every single member of staff demands that the top management are clear on the hard facts as well as on the measures for achieving new goals.

Define that purpose that makes you unique

Strength in leadership is the ability to think clearly and make wise decisions even when things are boiling over. You have probably sensed at some point that something needs to be done differently in the way you work. It’s about becoming more efficient, finding and going back to the core purpose of the business. At this point you have a golden opportunity, not only to steer the craft back on the right course, but also to analyse and define new measures that will secure future success.

When was the last time the management team sat down and reviewed the company's identity, core values and answered the question why? Often, leaders themselves do not know what the words mean and what they most profoundly represent. That way, it becomes difficult to talk to other warm contacts about the purpose of the company.

See the bigger picture and put yourself in the driving seat

If this sounds like a familiar scenario to you, it is time to sit down and get to the bottom of the problem by gaining an overview of the situation. If the challenges are of a strategic nature, there is a danger that the problems will spread outwards into the organisation.

It is difficult to see the whole picture from the inside. One by one the challenges build up and it becomes difficult to see past the tangle. Let us take you back a step in order to grasp the situation in its entirety and you will see the mist gradually clearing.

At Mission, we have the expertise to work in an analytical and systematic way to discover your challenges and make a plan for success. We have broad experience with the techniques we use, ones which have been tested out over time.

Equipping you for success

Once we have finished our analysis, we will have a good starting point for working out solutions and formulating a plan of action. It may be time to make some tactical choices about direction, or you may have to work actively on your brand and identity, internally and externally of the organisation.
